sanctity of life

As you may (or may not) have heard, the little man in the big house down South vetoed a stem cell research bill that would have permitted federal funding for research using discarded embryos.

The primary reason given was that every life was sacred, and that it was the personal responsibility of the president to ensure that the moral line not be crossed. As usual, Jon Stewart and his crew came up with a fine response.

It’s unfortunate this type of research doesn’t get more funding, as there have been some pretty impressive results (and, to be fair, other techniques are showing promise as well). The bill was (I thought) well laid out and had some pretty clear definitions of what was permissible and what wasn’t. It’ll continue elsewhere, but the main point of the vid is how Bush is selectively moral 🙂

Tip of the hat to the folks at The Daily Show.
