{"id":767,"date":"2009-08-02T14:51:15","date_gmt":"2009-08-02T18:51:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kev.deadsquid.com\/?p=767"},"modified":"2009-08-02T14:51:15","modified_gmt":"2009-08-02T18:51:15","slug":"powerlinc-2412u-plm-and-indigoosx","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kev.needham.ca\/index.php\/2009\/08\/02\/powerlinc-2412u-plm-and-indigoosx\/","title":{"rendered":"PowerLinc 2412U PLM and Indigo\/OSX"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Just a really quick hit, because it took me a little while to find <a href=\"http:\/\/www.perceptiveautomation.com\/phpBB2\/viewtopic.php?p=27152\">this post<\/a>, which pointed me in the right direction.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re trying to use the <a href=\" http:\/\/www.aartech.ca\/2412u-smarthome-powerlinc-insteon-usb-plm-modem.html\">PowerLinc 2412U<\/a> on OSX 10.5 with the latest beta (4.1) of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.perceptiveautomation.com\/indigo\/index.html\">Indigo home-automation and control server<\/a>, you&#8217;ll need to install USB serial drivers first. It would have been nice if this was a little more apparent with either the Indigo software or the PLM&#8217;s documentation, but it&#8217;s not (or, if it is, it&#8217;s buried).<\/p>\n<p>Get the USB serial <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ftdichip.com\/Drivers\/VCP.htm\">drivers from here<\/a>, install them, and now you should be able to see the interface and the proper port in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/36971629@N02\/3781399193\">preferences panel<\/a>.
