{"id":57,"date":"2004-05-29T23:37:07","date_gmt":"2004-05-30T03:37:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kev.needham.ca\/blog\/?p=57"},"modified":"2004-05-29T23:37:07","modified_gmt":"2004-05-30T03:37:07","slug":"weekends-are-for-slacking","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kev.needham.ca\/index.php\/2004\/05\/29\/weekends-are-for-slacking\/","title":{"rendered":"weekends are for slacking"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today was a pretty decent day, starting off with brunch at the Pump, and followed by a round of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.odgc.ca\/\">disc golf<\/a> at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.odgc.ca\/layout.html\" title=\"GD holes 14-16...\">Jacques Cartier<\/a> course over in <del>Hull<\/del> Gatineau.  I played with &#8220;real&#8221; discs for the first time, and managed to play bogey golf; I&#8217;ll take it. The hardest part was getting accustomed to using a power grip, which is essential if you like the skin on your throwing hands&#8217; index finger.<\/p>\n<p>Kerri and her daughter Jessica, who were staying with us for race weekend, arrived around 14:00 and we took off to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.carleton.edu\/curricular\/PEAR\/IM\/REC\/fieldhouse1.html\" title=\"Kickass facility\">Fieldhouse<\/a> at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.carleton.ca\" title=\"Last chance U\">Carleton University<\/a> to pick up our race kits. Very well organized, a tonne of people were there, and the expo was not too bad (although it needed more freebies \ud83d\ude42 ).<\/p>\n<p>Jessica ran the 5<abbr title=\"kilometres\">k<\/abbr> at 17:00, so she and Kerri took off to the start line, and I went to grab some ingredients for dinner. Dinner was New York strip sirloins marinated and then grilled on the barbie and accompanied by baked potatoes and a salad with a diijon-vinaigrette. Was very tasty.<\/p>\n<p>A good conversation followed the face-stuffing, and now I&#8217;m watching a little bit of toob before retiring.
