{"id":428,"date":"2006-03-20T09:47:55","date_gmt":"2006-03-20T14:47:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kev.needham.ca\/blog\/?p=428"},"modified":"2006-03-20T09:47:55","modified_gmt":"2006-03-20T14:47:55","slug":"bodum-makes-me-happy-then-sad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kev.needham.ca\/index.php\/2006\/03\/20\/bodum-makes-me-happy-then-sad\/","title":{"rendered":"bodum makes me happy, then sad"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"g2image_float_right\"><wpg2>\/misccrap\/blog\/bodum_breakage<\/wpg2><\/div>\n<p>I purchased some of Bodum&#8217;s nifty <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bodum.com\/pages\/products\/detail.asp?famId=13&#038;subFamId=1303&#038;id=10419-10\">double-walled glasses<\/a> from the fine folks at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greenbeanery.ca\" title=\"super fast shipping, excellent stock\">Green Beanery<\/a> last week. They are pretty darn cool, and each one has enough subtle imperfections from being hand-blown that they&#8217;re all unique. They work as advertised, and keep your drink nice and cool, with no condensation on the outside at all.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, they have one little flaw that I really hadn&#8217;t thought about until it bit me in the ass. The reason they look so cool is the air gap all the way around. Unfortunately, that air gap <em>is<\/em> just that, so there&#8217;s not a whole lot of strength at the bottom of the glass. I dropped a couple ice cubes in one yesterday, and it went right through the bottom. Ouch. I won&#8217;t do it again, but it was a bit of an expensive lesson to learn.
